




The National Gallery of Ireland opened its doors to the public in January 1864. Today the collection includes over 2,500 paintings and some 10,000 other works in different media including watercolours, drawings, prints and sculpture. Every major European School of painting is represented with works by Fra Angelico, Rembrant, Vermeer, Titian, Caravaggio, Goya, Zurbaran, Poussin, Gainsborough and Reynolds. It also houses a renowned collection of Irish paintings dating from the 17th to the 20th centuries.There is a National Portrait Collection and a room dedicated to the works by Jack B. Yeats, his father John Butler and other members of his artistic family. Special exhibitions and education events are part of the Gallery's annual programme. Free public tours at weekends (check Gallery website for details). Free audio guides to permanent collection, including children’s audio guide, family activities, family drawing packs, gift/book shop, restaurant, telephones, cloakrooms, toilets, baby changing facilities, wheelchair access to all levels

How to Get There:
By bus: 5, 7, 7A from Burgh Quay to Merrion Square North and Clare Street, 10 from O’Connell Street to Merrion Row and Pembroke Street, 44, 44C and 48A from Hawkins Street to Merrion Square West, 13, 13A to Merrion Square South.
By DART: Pearse Station is in Westland Row which is 5 minutes from the Gallery.
